From Wind River Casino to Wind River Canyon

After spending the night at the casino, we took Hwy. 20 through the Wind River Canyon to Thermopolis, Wy.

The view up Hwy 20, beautiful skies ahead, sun out!

As we head up the canyon the clouds are moving in, oh we hope no rain!

This canyon was carved by the Wind River, more than 2,000 feet deep.

3 tunnels were blasted in the mountain for highway 20.

The train runs alongside the highway. Their tunnels look like they are straight out of Knott's Berry Farm!

These red hills were beautiful! The contrast of the red and green, amazing.

Baby bison are everywhere.

This is part of the states bison herd.

At the hot springs there is a state bath house, available for free. An agreement was made in 1896 between the Shoshoni and Arapaho and the US government that the mineral springs would always be available free to everyone. The temperature is always at 104.

The bridge goes across the river, built in 1916 and then rebuilt in 1992.

The view from the swinging bridge of

Mineral terraces.

These are the World's largest mineral spring.
So after touring around the Hot Springs State Park we went back to the campground. Across the street was private property with access to the Big Horn River. Jack got permission from the owner to fish the river.

Here is what he says is the biggest rainbow he has ever caught. Beauty, right?
