So Jack set off across the street to fish again this morning (late morning). Mom and I set off to explore this metropolis of Thermopolis, 3,000 people. Downtown had several antique stores that unfortunately weren't open on Monday. Exactly 2 stores were open. After surveying the big city, off we went to the State Park again to see if we could find the bison from yesterday. We came upon the Smoky Row cemetery from the early 1900's. Then we decided to go exploring, maybe find another fishing spot for Jack. Off on a dirt road and at some point we made a wrong turn. Then after we were pretty far off in the wilderness, thought we would check with the GPS to get us back. We are following her directions, until she keeps directing us to turn and there is nothing but a dirt path that appeared to not have been used by anyone in some time...the road is going up a hill, getting skinnier, muddier....let's turn around. We have passed antelope, deer, cows, horses, rabbits, prairie dogs....one antelope was running along side the car when I noticed it, luckily it turned toward the open land and not the car. Back we go, it's been a couple hours now (we have water with us but no snacks). We come to a cow in the road. Just staring us down...I said to mom "well it doesn't have horns should we just go around and hope she stays there?" Mom says sure...I honk, she still stares...so I start forward going off to the side in the big mud puddle and she just watches us go by her...whew...We eventually get to a highway and amble on back to town. For a bit I was starting to get worried, but mom thought we were just over the hill...
We got back to the rv and Jack had a great day of fishing. Caught a bigger fish than yesterday. See below for the cow, the fish and the cemetery we saw today...
