Jackalope country

Rapid City Elks RV

Back to Wyoming

Can't see this very well, but coal mining is in this area.

Trains come in and out, carrying coal or empty cars. These trains are about a mile long! Largest coal production in the world according to something I read.

We have reached Douglas, Wyoming. Rain came and went leaving a beautiful rainbow. This was a nice KOA campground.

Here is the Jackalope (the one in the middle)! Douglas is where they were discovered.

This was the on ramp to the highway. We weren't sure it was open until we saw another car. So off we went. I am going to try and add the video I took of it. The on ramp went for quite a ways. Luckily there wasn't rain at the moment. Our motorhome and car have never been so dirty.

Next stop was Ayres Natual Bridge. Beautiful bridge made by water flow over the years. We packed a lunch, the sun was out, and the boy scouts were having an encampment...with scavenger hunts and over a hundred kids...no picnic lunch for us...but we enjoyed the views.

Oregon Trail marker on Hwy. 20.

Oh boy the storm is coming. Now we are in Shoshoni at the Wild Wind Casino. We looked at several campgrounds around Casper. Most were very muddy, so we decided to pass and go to the casino parking lot and spend the night. Mom and I did pretty well...won over $100 each.
